Breakfast Eating in Elementary School Students in Jiroft, Iran: An Application of Transtheoretical Model

Background: Breakfast is a very important meal. It can either make or break your day, and it be daunting task. Objectives: We used the transtheoretical model (TTM) to assess trend of breakfast eating among elementary school students in Jiroft city, Iran. Methods: In this descriptive‑analytic research, 290 city were selected using stratified sampling. Data collected questionnaire trends according TTM. The data analyzed SPSS version 16. Results: Approximately 9.3% participants precontemplation stage, 21.7% contemplation 7.2% action 53.4% preparation 8.3% maintenance stage. There was significant relationship between TTM constructs stages change consumption 2 more times week. Moving from stage associated with an increase decisional balance, processes change, self‑efficacy (P < 0.05). Conclusions: suggested emphasize importance perceived benefits greater self-efficacy design educational interventions based on model, use processes, decrease barriers as much possible establish correct behaviors.
